Term 1 Third Year

I started my third year in a bit of a panic about my dissertation.

Luckily i get learning support due to my dyslexia. The tutor at Ravensbourne  is really good and she gave me a good direction to go in , a target to reach and some really good advice.

After that initial panic i settled into the course and we started learning about narrative and script development. In these lectures and workshops we were given the chance to write a script and then discuss it i a group and pick the strongest most feasible one to develop as a group.

I really enjoyed this part of the term because as much as I hate written work I really like the idea of creating scripts for both film and television.

The two examples of script and character development that really stuck in my mind were:

Tinker Taylor Solider Spy:

In this Clip there is only one line of dialogue right at the end yet we all assume the hierarchy of all the men in the room just through the use of body language,  good direction and most importantly a really well thought out screenplay.

and the second :

Creature Comforts

In this series of short sketches made by Nick Park of Wallace and Grommet fame gives animals both human voices and expressions. I feel that this really shows the importance of good scripting and the use of expression and body language to give the meaning that you want.

During these lessons we were also given the task of producing one of the drama scripts chosen by our tutor within our group.
The Script we recieved was called 'luv lie txt.' The initial script needed to be edited so we met and threw around some ideas.

Kenny Parker did the final re- write and it had now turned into quite a dark film !

To cut a long story short the production of the film went really well and we managed to do 37 tracking shots in the space of two days filming !

We are now editing it and should hopefully be up here very soon.
